Unreal Engine TD

Mold3D Studio is seeking mid and senior Unreal Engine Technical Directors to support its real-time art department. The ideal candidate will have extensive technical experience using Unreal Engine in fast-paced professional environments, collaborating with clients and vendors. 

The Unreal Engine TD will also provide technical and creative solutions to our artist and pipeline teams by developing tools and apps that will help improve our existing pipeline and workflows.



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to our artists and ensure the quality and integrity of all client deliverables in accordance with identified requirements. Work with the leads and supervisors to ensure in-engine levels are real-time ready.

  • Oversee UE4 and UE5 system setup, calibration, and operation throughout the lifetime of a project. 

  • Drive the planning and implementation of UE editor-based tools and features. Identify any custom code or custom blueprints that need to be created.

  • Create and debug levels, materials, shaders, and animation graphs throughout the production.

  • Support performance profiling and run time efficiency efforts.

  • Work with our leadership team to collaborate and standardize on set tools and methodologies.

  • Pioneer new workflows. Document, prototype, and improve the technical pipeline.

  • Collaborate in the design and implementation of Virtual Production solutions including Virtual Camera, Multi User Virtual Scouting and AR based runtime apps.

  • Prototype tools and solutions that arise from specific project needs.

  •  Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications & Skills

Requirements:

  • Must be able to execute technically difficult work and maintain a level head under the pressures of multiple ongoing productions. 

  • Must be highly facile with Windows Operating System.

  • Must be an excellent troubleshooter to diagnose and solve issues in complex integrated systems.

  • Familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures used in VAD, VR/AR, video games, animation, visual effects and live-action film production.

  • Must be highly proficient with the Unreal Engine and familiar with the Unreal Blueprint gameplay system development.

  • Must be familiar with version control and source control software (Perforce).

  • Experience with Editor Utility Blueprints and Widgets.


Bonus Points:

  • Experience writing tools and UI panels (UMG) for Unreal Engine.

  • Familiarity with Unity.

  • Python scripting skills for Maya and Unreal.

  • C++ skills.

  • Proven games industry experience, with a Technical Director credit on at least one published video game title, film, or television series.

  •  familiar with ACES/OCIO.

Unreal Engine Environment Artist


Our team is growing and we are seeking experienced 3D Environment Artists to create 3D assets and photo-realistic lighting for a long term and high profile Virtual Production/VFX project based in Los Angeles, California.

Responsibilities

  • Model, texture, and light real-time assets based on concept design and/or photographic reference using a variety of software and techniques

  • Work with leads to investigate emerging technologies and improved workflows

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with your team, art directors, and production leads


Required Skills:

  • The ideal candidate must have at least 3+ years of experience working in the video game and/or VFX industries

  • Experience working in Unreal Engine

  • An eye towards photo-realistic lighting

  • Experience with PBR workflows using texturing software such as Substance Designer/Painter

  • Experience using UE4 Landscape tools and creating realistic terrains

  • Experience using Quixel Megascans assets to create foliage

  • Proficiency in Maya or equivalent 3D Software

  • The ability to create both organic and hard surface 3D models

  • 3D Sculpting using ZBrush


Bonus

  • Experience in Video Game and VR Production a plus

  • Strong traditional art skills.

  • Experience with photography

  • Experience working with photogrammetry assets

Production Coordinator

About the Role

Mold3D Studio is seeking a Coordinator to support its Virtual Art Department. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in fast-paced production environments, collaborating with clients and vendors to ensure the smooth flow of information and timely deliveries across concurrent productions. The Coordinator will work with our Virtual Art and Real-Time Departments to support development of virtual characters and environments utilizing game engine technology for projects in film/tv, gaming, animation and metaverse.

Location: Los Angeles, California or USA Remote Type: Full Time



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor artists’ daily progress with regular check-ins, follow-ups and meetings to ensure work is on schedule.

  • Provide accurate reports to the Producer and/or Supervisor to ensure a tight delivery schedule and accurate overall production schedule.

  • Provide team updates regarding schedules, review notes, delivery milestones, reference elements and assets needed for any given task, etc.

  • Maintain constant communication with various infrastructure departments in the studio with regards to the specific needs of the project. 

  • Schedule meetings with artists, producers and/or supervisors.

  • Take clear and accurate notes in all pertinent meetings and share these notes in a timely manner to all necessary parties.

  • Schedule, track, and manage assigned work using Autodesk Shotgrid.

  • Ensure procedures for CG asset build are followed to ensure workflow from the team is efficient as possible.

  • Manage and organize periodic shipments to and from clients and vendors via ftp, and/or Perforce.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Skills



Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years previous experience in a relevant production environment.

  • Must possess very strong organizational and communication (both written and verbal) skills and be able to handle a variety of tasks in an efficient manner while working within a deadline-driven environment.

  • Must be able to effectively collaborate with others and take direction while negotiating tight deadlines and dealing with the pressures of show production.

  • Must be proficient in MS Office, Google Suite, and Autodesk Shotgrid.

  • Familiarity with a typical VFX and video games production pipeline a plus.

Pay Scale Range

$25-$35 an hour depending on experience.

Senior Lighting Artist - Unreal Engine  

  • Mold3D is looking for a Lighting Artist to light photo-real and cinematic environments in Unreal Engine for an exciting animation project. The ideal candidate will have a love and passion for lighting, composition and color theory.


    Responsibilities

    • Assemble and light real-time assets based on concept design and/or photographic reference using Unreal Engine 4

    • Work with leads to investigate emerging technologies and improved workflows in UE4 & UE5

    • Effectively communicate and collaborate with your team, art directors, and production leads

    • Establish a specific mood across multiple shots based on artistic feedback and provided references


    Required Skills:

    • Strong color theory knowledge

    • Experience with rendering processes

    • Layout assembly and set dressing

    • Able to translate concepts into a photo real scene without supervision

    • The ideal candidate must have at least 3+ years of experience working in the video game and/or VFX industries

    • Experience with photo realistic lighting in UE4

    • A strong sense of light and shadow


    Bonus

    • Knowledge of materials/shaders in UE4 & UE5
